Hi! Dude, I'm not here. Uh, obviously, because if I was here, you'd be talking to me and not this silly recording... um. Right. Anyway, if you need me, leave a message here- I'm sure I'll remember to check this thing regularily. Or at least, I'll try t- *muffled crashing noises* RIC! Get down from th *BEEP*

Parker had time to kill. The line for the pizza parlor was about half an hour long, from what she could tell. And better to make this call sooner, rather than later.

"Uh, hello?" Bridge says, picking up the phone.

"Hey Bridge. It's Parker." She put one hand over her opposite ear to shut out the noise of the pizzeria, and raised her voice. "How's it going?"

"Dude!" Bridge perks up. "Hi! Things are good!" We'll ignore for now the fact that there was bitching at Xander last night, yes.

"Yeah? I heard the psycho principal left, so congrats." Parker shifted her weight so she could hear Bridge better. "You're on break now, right? Going anywhere before classes start?"

"No! Definitely no going anywhere! We're staying right here thanks." Bridge might sound a little emphatic about that.

"How *did* that visit to see your parents go? Xander was incredibly unforthcoming on the subject," Parker asked, diverted.

"Good, I think, I mean, there was the thing with the knife but I'm pretty sure that was an accident and things turned out well in the end and they *liked* him just like I said they would!" Bridge babbles.

Parker started laughing and didn't stop for several minutes. "Ahem. Okay! So, good to know. Which one had the knife? And is Xander ever going back there, ever?"

"My mom, but I don't think she actually realised that she had it. Or that she was waving it around kind of threateningly. And yes, if I have anything to say about it."

"You will." Parker knew how hard Xander found it to not cave in to Bridge, and wasn't betting any money on this outcome. "I'm glad it eventually got worked out, though." She grinned. "Guess where I am."

"Um," Bridge thinks. "Didn't you say you were staying with Zero in LA?"

"Yeaaah, not so much since late last night. Zero coaxed me onto an 'adventure.'" Parker rolled her eyes. "I'm in Nevada. Several miles outside of the Burning Man festival. Where about 30,000 crazy people have kicked the idea of a capitalist economy aside and are flashing peace signs at me at every opportunity."

"Okay, I'm going to need pictures," Bridge says solemnly. "Because without hard evidence? I'm not sure I can believe that."

"Believe it. I'm taking a million pictures, you'll have proof, but I can't send it right away. The phones *don't work* on the playa," Parker said with perfect disgust. "It's like being in Fandom, on drugs. Huge Cheshire Cat cars. Camps in psychedelic colors. And did I mention the heat? Gah!"

Bridge giggles. "You'll survive. It'll make you a stronger person!"

A growl. "If you hear about a mass homicide in Nevada, send bail money." Parker sighed, and moved another space forward in the pizza line. "Anyway. Other reason I called, aside from overdue catching-up. River."

"No, dude, I'm Bridge..."

"Dude? Messing with me now is only safe 'cause I'm in hell, and you're not," Parker deadpanned. "I meant, I had a talk with her about some stuff, and River needs a favor."

"Yeah?" Bridge says, turning serious. "So what's up?"

"I remembered that Jack was leaving soon, and he was the only other person from the Miranda trip that knew River's safe words. The ones that stopped her from tearing that bar apart on Beaumonde," Parker said carefully. "After talking it over, River agreed with me that someone else needed to know them, and we were hoping you'd be okay with taking that responsibility on."

"If it's going to help River, I can do that," Bridge says solemnly.

Parker's shoulders sagged in relief, and she sighed. "Thank you, Bridge." She cleared her throat. "It's Russian. So there's no chance you'll say it accidentally. It means 'this is for hens to laugh' if you have to look it up again. Eta kooram nah smech."

"I've got a pretty good memory," Bridge says, repeating the phrase back at her. "I'll remember."

"That's perfect," Parker said, smiling into the phone. "Thank you so much, Bridge. We figured Buffy could take her down physically, but just in case she needs back up, you'll know."
