Room 227 [Wednesday Evening]
Jan. 2nd, 2008 11:26 amBridge is in his room, the email Z had forwarded him last night on his screen as he tries to work out what it's supposed to mean.
His first thought is that it's obviously some sort of code. The first letter could be taken as addressing Z... or it could be the key for a cipher. So he tries decoding the message with a Caesar Cipher, and just ends up with more gibberish. He tries a couple more codes until he hits the jackpot on the Autokey Cipher.
"You must search for un lapin", he reads out loud. "I don't even know what un lapin *is*!" He plugs it in to Google, hoping to at least get a translation of the word. One of the results catches his eye, not just because of the mention of un lapin, but also something he remembers from over a month ago.
He opens up the other file and studies it carefully, picking out individual letters until he's left with... the first verse of the song. Still not terribly enlightening, as far as secret messages go.
Every second counts... Then it hits him. He goes back, re-inserting every letter that occurs right *after* one of the lyrics:
hit play and you will find the truth.
That... makes a little more sense. But hit play on what? The only person who could get in this room when he wasn't around was Anders, or possibly Wyatt or Chris with that whole orbing thing. But cryptic emails weren't exactly their style of practical joke.
There was *one* other time where someone else was in his room while he wasn't, though. Parent's Weekend. A quick search for any files added or modified on that weekend comes up with a few results.
One of which is a video file. With no small amount of trepidation, he opens it.
"Bridge," the image of Kat on the screen says. "First things first, hit pause and go get Z. Now. Don't play the rest of this file without her; she should hear this at the same time." She crosses her arms expectantly. Bridge hovers the cursor over the pause button uncertainly, his curiousity nagging at him. "Bridge," Kat says forcefully.
"Okay, okay, fine." Bridge says... to the video file that can't actually hear him, yes, before he hits pause andhandwavily calls Z.
( A few minutes later, Z arrived at Bridge's room. )
