Except that now he has to consider the implications of how he got to have a granddaughter, and yes, he was a scientist once, thank you very much, so he knows Where Babies Come From. And he realizes that there had to have been some scientific intervention here, but that still doesn't detract from the inevitable, instinctive mental association between 'offspring' and 'things I don't want to think about my son doing yet.'
