Bridge & Xander's Quarters [Newtech City, 2023]

So, the Carson household (to use the term loosely, since it's definitely not a house and not really even an apartment to be honest) is now officially one with dual-income, no kids. Well, unless the new-and-improved, now-in-more-locations-than-ever-before Fandom weirdness struck again the way it did a couple of days ago.

Part of Bridge is actually kind of disappointed it skipped him. Not that he's gonna admit that.

"I miss having space," he comments randomly. Of course, his dorm room hadn't been bigger than their present quarters... but then, he'd practically moved out of the dorms in all but name only long before he'd actually left Fandom.

"Okay, I know who that first person is and frankly she's a bit too old for you, but who the frak is Tim Gunn?"

"She's six years older than me and this is gonna be another one of those conversations about how you don't get reality tv, isn't it."

"Twenty-one, correcting for time-travel," Bridge says. "And I really don't. I mean, literally. It's not on TV, as you might've noticed."

"70-something younger than both of us, correcting for cold-sleep," Xander counters with a snicker. "And yeah, I noticed. I've been trying to figure out how to download Extreme Makeover - Home Edition through the FH network or something." Or he could always be lazy and get Willow Senior to send it to him.

"I could try and work something out?" Bridge says. He's *fairly* sure the show doesn't involve voting anyone on or off, and thus can't be *too* bad.

"What, we trade future-porn for old home improvement shows?"

"I *meant* with configuring the network settings," Bridge says. "Not, like, making a deal."

"Ahhhh, my bad." Sometimes Xander is serious. Really. "Think the internet would start e-mailing us Ho-Hos if you did that?"

"I'm... pretty sure that's not how the internet works?" says the guy who lives in a world where people can be teleported into books.

"That's not how phones are supposed to work either, but..." Xander fumbles around on the table next to the couch for his, and waves it in illustration.

"Yeah, but that was, you know- Fandom, kind of being Fandomy. Not just me being me."

"From what I hear, Fandom's being Fandomy all over the place now," Xander points out. "All over Marty and Angela, anyhow."

"Yeah, that- I have no idea how that was even possible and frankly I'm not even sure I *want* to know," Bridge says, wide-eyed.

"I'm not sure we get to talk about not having kids the normal way, but... yeeeeeaheesh."

"Normal or not, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to when it'll be our turn," Bridge says, absently fiddling with a loose thread on a nearby pillow.

"Me too," Xander admits. "Though, ah, hopefully we'll be out of here by then, cause I can't exactly see a place this size standing up to Hurricane Bronwyn."

Bridge snorts. "Really not, no. She'd need her own room, for one. Somewhere where there's not giant robotic vehicles being stored a short walk away."

"'Cause that slowed her down so much when she ended up coming to Fandom..."

"My point exactly!" Bridge says. "I mean, I'm not sure how the whole vortex-thing worked, if she ended up being gone for any time at all, considering apparently none passed between the first and second times, but would you really want stuff like that happening on a weekly basis?" he asks pointedly.

"Want, no. Can see it happening... Let's just say I'm thinking for the baby shower, we ask for a lot of those springy kid-leash things."

Bridge snorts. "That'll slow her down for oh, about fifteen seconds, I'll bet."

"Extra-strength springy kid-leash?" Xander tries. "With titanium springs?"

Bridge thinks about that for a moment. "Thirty-seven seconds."
