Newtech City, 2023 [Saturday Evening]

Thanksgiving had been... well, slightly awkward, with nearly all of the hosts avoiding each other, but still good in the sense of getting to see everyone. Well, almost everyone, anyway.

But now! Now it is Xander's birthday and birthdays, of course, merit non-Synthetron food and so Bridge and Xander are going out for dinner.

"That was an *accident*," Bridge rolls his eyes. "She's never pulled a knife on anyone on purpose."

"Did I bring up the kitchen knife? I did not. I just pointed out that you were waiting for me to."

"Mentioning it counts as bringing it up."

"Oh, sure, bring logic into it."

"I will, thank you," Bridge smirks. "And, uh. Thank you," he nods to the waiter who chose that particular moment to bring their food.

"Whatever," Xander says, tugging his plate towards him. "I'll take your crazy family over mine, accidental knives and all, is all I'm sayin'."

"Your mom's not all that bad," Bridge points out. "In small, controlled doses."

"Maybe," Xander's willing to acknowledge. "But if there's one thing my family doesn't do it's controlled doses."

"Good thing we're a dimension or two and a decade and a half away, then," Bridge says. "So we don't need to worry about it."

"Thank God," Xander agrees, taking a tentative bite of his.... whatever it is. "...Huh. Whoa."

"Good whoa?" Bridge asks hopefully.

"Hot. But not like... Umbridge-breath hot. Good hot."

Bridge shudders. "Can we please not bring her into conversation?"

"Who, that person I totally didn't just mention? Absolutely."

"Thank you," Bridge says emphatically. "There are certain things that are just not dinnertime conversation. Or anytime conversation."

"Okay, I don't have pepper-breath. Is that better?" Xander tries.

"Much," Bridge grins at him. "Especially since I don't wanna kiss pepper-breath," he adds, making an exaggerated ew-face.

Xander raises an eyebrow. "But you wanna kiss whatever-this-is-breath?"

"Yeah *huh*," Bridge says. "The list of things that'd make me not want to is very small. And even then, it's not not-want-to as just not-want-to-that-second."

"So the making out could get called on account of invasion?" Xander nods. "That's fair."

"Postponed," Bridge corrects firmly, gesturing with a purple french fry-like... thing.

"Making out during a commercial break in the action? Also fun," Xander points out.

"Voice of experience?" Bridge asks, his voice light. The wave of totally irrational jealousy that comes along when thinking of Xander being involved with people not-him is... okay, still totally there, but quieter.

"If I say yes, does that mean I don't need any more practice? 'Cause if so, no."

"As long as said practice is with *me*, I'd be more than happy to let you get some any time you want," Bridge replies.
