Bridge is, for once, not building something.

Instead he's taking things apart, and slowly and methodically sorting all the bits and pieces into various piles.

In other words, he's just generally keeping himself busy and finding excuses to avoid interacting with people in public.

"Who hasn't said stuff they shouldn't have?" asks Anders. "I do that all the time. Least you haven't ended up with a black eye, or thrown out of Caritas for it, or something. Okay, not that I got a black eye, but I might've, except for the getting thrown out of Caritas part . . ."

He sits down across from Bridge and shoves the cupcakes over to him. "Okay, seriously, dude. This is not like you, and I don't like it. What's up?"

Bridge smiles a little, just a little, as he takes a cupcake, and then just shrugs in response to Anders' question.

Anders's eyebrow goes up pretty noticeably. "You don't know, or you don't wanna say?" He shrugs and picks up a cupcake for himself. "I totally get the not wanting to talk about it thing, y'know. 'cause like, there was some stuff I shoulda kept my mouth shut about a couple months ago, 'stead of going around making vague references to a whole bunch of people. Y'know, with Kara, and the Pyramid thing, and the . . . yeah."

"Complicated, huh?" Anders nods. "Well, if talking about it isn't your thing, maybe just some company would help? Maybe? That's what best buds are supposed to be there for, right?"

"That'd be good," the smile's a little bigger now. "So, um." change of subject, change of subject, change of subject, "I hear Cally's feeling better."

"Yep!" Anders's face brightens. "Lots better. Couple more days and she should be a hundred percent again. And no," he adds, his eyes bugging out a little bit frantically, "she was not pregnant. Even if I made Rory think so."

"Sometimes you have to be careful with how you word things around here, yeah." Bridge says, not at all wishing he'd taken his own advice.

"Doesn't matter how you word things, someone's gonna take 'em wrong anyway around here," notes Anders with a shrug. "'cause like, those notes you get for radio? I gotta wonder if the sources are on drugs sometimes."

"Seriously, dude." Bridge says, making a face. "It's like, sometimes they're accurate? And sometimes they're recorded by, like, monkeys with typewriters."

"Drugged monkeys with typewriters," Anders agrees, starting in on a second cupcake. "Typewriters where someone mixed up all the letter keys, too."

Bridge almost laughs.

"Drugged dyslexic monkeys who only speak Greek, trying to use possessed typewriters with mixed-up keys that will get every other word spelled backwards anyway . . ."

"Or as logical as anything ever gets here, right?" Anders grins. "So when you gonna drop by and see Cally and, like, tell her you're glad she's still alive or something?"

"Uh... good question." Bridge says. "Maybe tomorrow? I'm not exactly in an actually-leave-my-room kinda mood."

"Aw, that's cool. Don't think tonight would work out too well anyway." Anders shrugs and juggles a couple of bolts, then puts them back in the pile they came from. "Today was one of those for me mostly, and then there was this need for sugar."

"Sugar is good," Bridge says, taking another cupcake to emphasize his point.

Anders eyes Bridge dubiously. "Maybe I should go out and get you more, at this rate."

Noncommittal, emo-ish Bridge?

Is a scary, scary thing.

"Cupcakes. Stat," says Anders, jumping up and making a beeline for the door.

He totally leaves the other half dozen left in the tray behind, too.
