Secluded Spot on the Beach [Sunday Evening]

"I... see." Bridge says. "So there's not an actual list that someone's made, right?"

"A list? Probably. But I may have made that particular one up."

"You? Make stuff up?" Bridge looks shocked.

"I am sometimes surprisingly sneaky that way. You have food." This is not a non sequitur; it hasn't been that long since Xander was a teenager.

"I do," Bridge says. "There's sandwiches, and pizza, because first I thought maybe sandwiches would be good. But then I was like no, maybe pizza. Then I decided to save myself the trouble of deciding and just packed both."

"Food-efficency - number 7 on the list of Top 100 Things Xander Likes In A Boyfriend, and yes, I just made that one up too." Xander snags a sandwich.... and a slice of pizza.

"And somehow I knew you wouldn't have a problem with that," Bridge says, pulling out a sandwich for himself.

"Psychic would be on that list too." ....Yeah, pretty much that list consists of 'Things I Know About Bridge.'

"Hey! So far I'm two for two," Bridge looks immensely pleased about that.

"You do seem to be beating out all the zero other contenders."

"Good," Bridge says. "Not that I don't think there couldn't *be* other contenders because I know that if I wasn't already dating you I'd... be contending for you, which in fact for a period of a couple months I was, if you remember,"

Xander studies the sandwich in his hand, thinking of how to answer that. "There wasn't really any competition, you know. It wasn't like, a choice between you and somebody else."

"I know that *now*," Bridge says, reaching past the blanket and idly tracing a pattern in the sand with one finger.

"I kinda suck at not being in love with you," Xander says with a shrug.

"Not objecting," Bridge says, smiling brilliantly at Xander. "Cause if you haven't noticed, I'm sort of head-over-heels for *you*, you know."

"I may have picked up a few hints in that direction." That doesn't stop Xander's head from ducking when he hears it, though. Probably won't ever.

"Subtlety is not my strong point," Bridge says with a shrug.

Xander laughs and switches out his sandwich for a bite of pizza. He leans back on the blanket and watches the sky for a bit, just listening to the waves roll in.

After a while, he says, still staring upwards, "It's Father's Day today."

"Yeah," Bridge, in turn, is watching *Xander*. "You're doing okay?"

"Hmm?" Xander turns his head to glance over. "Oh, yeah. I stopped thinking I could find the right color tie to make that work a long time ago." Mostly true. At least so far as most years he doesn't think about it at all.

Bridge gives him a careful look. "As long as you're sure," he says finally.

"Wasn't even thinking about that," Xander answers truthfully. "I was actually thinking about the project I've been working on for Professor Winchester and Principal Zoe. Stuff for the baby's room."

"Oooh, right," Bridge nods. "I remember Cam- uh, Watanabe, the one who came to see Tori graduate- mentioned something about teaming up with Cam Mitchell to petition to have the baby named Cam."

Xander snorts. "That's all Sam Winchester needs - a little brother or sister with a rhyming name."
