"Wasn't even thinking about that," Xander answers truthfully. "I was actually thinking about the project I've been working on for Professor Winchester and Principal Zoe. Stuff for the baby's room."
"Oooh, right," Bridge nods. "I remember Cam- uh, Watanabe, the one who came to see Tori graduate- mentioned something about teaming up with Cam Mitchell to petition to have the baby named Cam."
"Carolyn?" Bridge says. "Or, if we're thinking boy-names... Llewellyn. Which also has the Welsh theme thing going on. Not that, you know, either of us is actually Welsh." He's mostly kidding about the names.
"Hey!" Bridge says, as the napkin bounces off the side of his head. "Um. Speaking of kids and parents and stuff..." oh so smooth transition there, Bridge.
"Don't do that!" Bridge flails. "Especially since. Um. They want me to come visit at the end of next month. I haven't written back yet because I wanted to ask if maybe you'd like to come too?" he looks at Xander hopefully.
Xander blinks. And blinks again. He'd known it would be this summer; he'd even known it would be soon. It's just having an actual time fixed to it that makes it seem, well. Fixed.
"I. Um. Yeah?" The squeak on that last word is exactly the touch of confidence it needs, yup.
"Yay," Bridge says with a firm nod. "If they like you even *half* as much as I love you, you'll do fine." The possibility that his parents might not like Xander doesn't even cross his mind, for two reasons. One, how could anyone *not* like him, and two, the Carsons are about as capable of hating people as *he* is. Which is to say, not at all.
"If you say so." Xander eyes Bridge again and, despite incipient panic attack, can't help but smile at his certainty. It would be nice to have parents he was that sure of.
Maybe the best he can do is try to be someone people can be that sure of. He sets the food aside and falls back with his hands behind his head again. "What I was thinking, before, about Father's Day..."
