Echolls Estate [Saturday Evening]

The ballroom of the mansion is done up in the same mostly-green colour scheme as the wedding ceremony. There's no assigned seating- unless you're in the wedding party, and then you're at the head table (unless you felt like moving around, of course, because gluing people to their seats was not part of the plan)- just several small tables around the room. Off to the side there's also a table meant for wedding gifts. There is, of course, plenty of food and drink, including the most important food-item of them all: the cake Piper had crafted exactly to Xander and Bridge's specifications.

Which would probably work if he was trying to hide from anyone that wasn't Veronica.

She hugged him again. "Okay, I'll see you later."

Xander snorted. "I think it's probably too late for that one."

Anders cleared his throat. "I don't know whether to smack you in the head for that or tell you you better be ready to shimmer us home as soon as I'm done with Best Dude duties."

"Plus this town isn't big on magic," Angel said.

"You'll do good," he said honestly. "Just don't get all power hungry," he added more teasingly.

"And that," agreed Anders. "Which worries me for when Bel finally can't take it any more and tries to go fireball our deadbeat landlord."

"Who me?" she asked, feigning innocence.

"Think that's possible?" Angel asked. "Veronica told me about the problems."

Anders stopped on his latest round of the reception when he saw her. "Hey, you. Long time no see."

"Yeah, you" he shook his head and he sobered a little. "It's good to see you."

"Possibly possible. If that monster got any taller before Bridge zapped it."

Veronica swallowed past the lump in her throat. "You too, Cam."

"Anders!" She got up to hug him hello. "I see you were very busy today. How're things?"

"Could just find an empty room," Bel suggested. "Maybe defile Logan's bed or something."

"I can't imagine why you'd think that," she reached over to hug him. "God, you scared me."

Anakin gave her a small smile as he took his own seat.

Angela looked uncertain. "Why do I have this weird feeling that's not a metaphor?"

"Things are great," said Anders, who may have been glossing over details quite a bit but was certainly not hesitant to give her a hug. "I'm kinda beat, but hey. How've you been?"

"You'd enjoy that way too much, wouldn't you?" asked Anders, looking at him suspiciously.

"This," said Anders from the other side of Bridge, "is supposed to be where I tell you that you better take care of him or there's gonna be Words and other possibly capitalized vague threats, but I think you've had a long enough day as it is."

Sam got up and wandered over, since she didn't know when she'd see Anakin again, and besides, she'd missed him. "I seem to keep running into you at these things."

It might be, but if so it was still accurate. "The monsters from his dimension are a lot rubberier than mine. And their jokes are worse, which I didn't think was possible."

Sam shrugged. "Busy in my garage, mostly, but Cameron makes me come out and have a meal and see the bright orb in the sky occasionally."

"We're losing chunks of ceiling to the leaks upstairs now," Anders admitted. "On top of the air conditioning and the dishwasher breaking down and the weird neighbors, and it might actually be down to the threat of fireballs to get them to do anything about it. Which will probably not make 'em any fonder of us."

"In that case I'll have to thank him for making sure you continue to exist," Anders decided. "It's been way too long since I've seen you."
