Pangolin A3 [Monday Afternoon]

After moving his stuff over from 227, and hanging out with his cabinmates in the common room, Bridge is currently sprawled on his bed, the curtain pulled back, and is writing in a notebook. Every once and a while, he absently tosses a ball down the cabin hallway for RIC.

"Well, I mean, it makes a *certain* kind of sense... stick all the kids with weird powers together and it causes much less trouble for everyone," Bridge muses.

"But if they really are actively recruiting kids with weird powers...I don't know. I guess shoving all the freaks together does make sense," she said bitterly.

"Well, we can pretty much rule out coincidence putting us all on the same team," Bridge points out.

"Yeah, that would be a little bit too random."

"Which, of course, begs the question... why us?" Bridge asks. "I mean, how'd we all end up at SPD? I know *I* wasn't recruited, and I'm pretty sure Syd and Sky weren't."

"So, what, you all just up and decided to join SPD? And Syd--don't pop stars make way better money than cops?"

"Well," Bridge shrugs. "I've wanted to join SPD since I was little. And Sky's dad was a Ranger, he was always kind of expected to join. And as for Syd... she's, kind of... Syd?"

"I see." Actually, she didn't, but she was still sure Syd was a very nice person. "What made you want to join SPD, then?"

"I just... I wanted to help people, you know? And it seemed like a good way to do that."

"Yeah," Z said softly. "Helping people."

Bridge tilts his head at Z. "What's wrong?"

"Jack was always going on about helping people--even though we were so broke it wasn't even funny. And then we get a chance to actually make a difference and he'd rather cool his heels in a little bitty card. I just don't get him."

"Yeah, I gotta say I don't understand that decision." Bridge shakes his head.

"Remember that thing I said about Jack being a moron sometimes. I think that's pretty much all you need to know there."

"Well, he's your friend." Bridge points out. "It's not *my* place to call him a moron."

"No, really, I won't mind," Z said kind of brightly. "And it's not like he can hear you."

"Okay," Bridge shrugs. "Jack is kind of a moron sometimes."

"See? It explains so much."

"That was... oddly satisfying."

"Yeah, I know what you mean. So, you're not going to shun me or whatever now?"

"No, no shunning." Bridge says. "Too impractical. You live, like, five feet away."

"Yay! I'd hate to be shunned by my neighbor-slash-teammate. It would be awkward."

"Extremely so. So let's put all thoughts of shunning aside."

"Right. Shunning, forgotten." Except not really. "Will the others shun me?"

"Sky? Will probably bitch for a while, but ultimately accept Cruger's judgement. And Syd..." Bridge shrugs. "As long as you don't do anything to Peanuts."
